Dimension and fit
Check key mounting points, clip locations and contour tolerances with gauges and CMM, confirming even gaps against bumpers, headlamps and fenders. A full-dimensional first article report and boundary samples should be approved before mass production.
Appearance and materials
- Paint: ΔE color difference, gloss, orange peel and dirt inclusion control
- Grain: depth and direction consistency
- Materials: impact, weatherability and low-temperature toughness reports for PP/ABS
- Packaging: scuff protection and container loading trials
Writing these checks into the purchase agreement and acceptance standard is far more effective than claims after the fact. Mature exterior-part factories provide first article and batch inspection records proactively.
